HSBC Mortgage Corporation will sponsor a free Mortgage Awareness Day seminar from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9 at 6525 Transit Road, East Amherst. For reservations, call 651-6138. Information on financing programs, obtaining closing cost assistance, home affordability, low down payment mortgage options, how to qualify for a mortgage and what to expect during the home buying process, will be available.

Calspan Corporation named Paul Szalach of Snyder as director of Calspan Innovations, LLC. Szalach is responsible for the administration and direction of Calspan Innovations, a company launched by Calspan in November. He worked at Delphi for 21 years and most recently in business development as a product line manager.

BNI Business Makers will conduct its weekly meeting from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 15 at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Amherst, 6320 Main St. in Williamsville. The Public Relations Society of America Buffalo Niagara Chapter has named its officers for 2007. Williamsville native Thomas R. Lucia, director of public relations for Meals on Wheels for Western New York, was elected president; Snyder resident Michael R. Barone, Travers Collins & Co., has been named president-elect; and Amherst resident John Senall, Roswell Park Cancer Institute, was named secretary. Returning officer, Amherst resident Richard Shaner, Jr., Travers Collins & Co., is a director at large.

Tronconi, Segarra & Associates, located in Williamsville, appointed Mary Wesolowski Bartlett of East Amherst to the tax department. She has 24 years of tax experience. Jennifer Hartmann Hatcher of Williamsville was also named to the tax department. She will serve as a tax specialist for clients.

Greenwich Mortgage Corporation of New York recently joined National Lender First Horizon. The merge will give borrowers access to more financial products and services, including equity based financing, consumer loans, credit cards and financial planning.
