South Towns Surgical Associates opens Amherst location on Youngs Road

In its 30th year in Western New York, South Towns Surgical Associates recently opened an Amherst location.

The office, at 1000 Youngs Road, Suite 105, offers general and vascular surgeries.

With an increasing need to serve patients in the Northtowns, South Towns Surgical Associates chose an Amherst location.

Four surgeons collaborate to serve their patients at the facility.

Dr. Julio Alvarez has developed a special interest in vascular and endoscopic surgery, endoscopic surgical techniques, colon surgery, cancer, thyroid surgery, and the VNUS Closure procedure for varicose veins, a minimally invasive procedure that treats varicose veins while causing little or no pain.

Also at the Amherst location is Dr. Jeffrey Steinig, who specializes in vascular surgery, thyroid surgery, breast surgery, and laparoscopic ventral hernia and inguinal hernia repair utilizing a new technique involving the Gore bioabsorbable plus, which results in quicker recuperation and less postoperative pain.

Dr. Daniel Patterson practices general surgery to include breast surgery, laparoscopic surgery (gallbladder, appendix, ventral hernia, etc.), thyroid surgery, HALS colon surgery (hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery) and a special interest in VNUS Closure.

The newest member, Dr. Kenneth Eckhert III, specializes in advanced laparoscopy and robotic surgery, especially for gastroesophageal reflux, solid-organ surgery such as adrenalectomies and splenectomies, both ventral and inguinal hernia repair, and laparoscopic colon surgery.
