Flyers sail past the Sharks, 5-2

The Squirt Flyers defeated the Sharks, 5-2, on Saturday morning at the Amherst Pepsi Center.

The Sharks were the first ones to score in the first period. Outstanding defense from both teams stopped a number of end-to-end rushes from resulting in goals.

Peter Masters of the Flyers turned the momentum of the game around for his team in the second period when his non-stop hustle resulted in a superb goal. His assist came from Amir Gulati.

Five minutes later, the Flyers' Nicholas Schiappa sliced a quick goal in for his team after taking advantage of a pass from teammate Trevor Shaw.

The third period saw more pressure from the Flyers when Conor Mulvey buried a rebound in for his team's third goal. He was assisted by Mark Christy. The Flyers' pressure continued for the rest of the third period when Eric Bailey had one of his best breakaways of the season. He simply couldn't be caught and sliced between the pipes for his team's fourth goal.

With Forty-five seconds to go in the game, Mulvey lit up the scoreboard again with tremendous help from teammates, James Mueller and Christy.

Outstanding defensive plays for the Flyers were made by Austin Gallagher, Bryan Cowing and James Williams.

Sharks goalie Alex Bender made a number of key saves.
