Jason Batt and Melissa Young

Mary and Michael Young of Lancaster announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa Young, to Jason Batt, son of Patricia and Kevin Batt, also of Lancaster.

Miss Young is a 1997 graduate of Lancaster High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in English from Brockport State College in 2001. She received her master's degree in childhood education from D'Youville College in 2005. She is an elementary school substitute teacher.

Her fiance is also a 1997 graduate of Lancaster High School. He received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Buffalo State College in 2000. He is a police officer.

An October 2007 wedding is planned with a honeymoon in Hawaii.
