U-12 Revolution begins indoor season with win The Amherst Revolution U-12 girls soccer team started out the indoor portion of their schedule in grand fashion, beating the North Town Nightmare, 8-3, on Saturday. The Revolution's Sarah Eichhorn scored in the first minute of play. After even play by both squads and some stellar defensive play by Alyssa Cartwright, Christine Murphy and some huge stops by goaltender Cathryn Mahon, the Revolution made it 2-0 on Carissima Cutrona's goal set up with a perfect pass from Dominique Berrafato. Throughout the rest of the half, the Revolution showed its offensive and defensive skills in passing, dribbling, shooting and defending. Led by Francesca Carra, Annie Garcia, Morgaine Houston, Hannah Dreger, Margaux Gill, Katie Cohen, Alicia Girard, Alyssa Cartwright, Shannon Doherty and Courtney Kramer, the Revolution was a nightmare for the Northtown team. The Revolution made it 3-0 before the first half ended when Katie Cohen scored on a great shot. In the second half, the scoring fest continued. Eichhorn and Carra swarmed the net with Berrafato kicking it in. Eichhorn and Cutrona each scored their second goal of the game and Gill finished the day with two beautiful goals. Gill's first goal was set up by Dreger whose textbook-crossing pass found Gill all alone in front of the net. Her second goal came off a strong run and shoot. The Revolution played without two injured players, Angela Sobotka and Kaitlyn Neese who were on the sideline cheering their team to victory. |
