Amherst Mite 1998 Selects post convincing win in Canada

The Amherst 98's evened its record at 2-2 by skating past Fort Erie, 10-0, on Sunday afternoon in Ridgeway.

Matt Cohen scored the lone goal in the first period with Nick Carbone and Aaron Bengart picking up helpers.

Connor Bender got things going quickly in the second by going top shelf to give Amherst a 2-0 lead. Ben Reichert and Josh Knauf picked up assists.

Cohen struck again on a rebound to make it 3-0 as Carbone and Sam Kinerk chipped in assists. Knauf potted Amherst's fourth goal as he banged in a rebound. Cohen completed the hat trick before the second closed by streaking in alone and putting a nifty move on the Fort Erie netminder.

Nick Carbone got the third period started by notching two goals just over a minute apart as Cohen and Knauf helped on the first and Brendan DesRosiers and Cohen helped him convert the second. Bender picked up his second when Ben Reichert fed him the puck from the corner and he buried it from point blank range. Rachel DePerio followed suit as she alertly converted a pass off the boards from Aaron Bengart to make it 9-0.

Bender completed his hat trick when Knauf passed it from the corner and he quickly put it past the goalie to close out the scoring.

Cam Carney was stellar in the net for Amherst, stopping numerous quality scoring chances to notch his first career shutout.
