Music fund to support poetry, music, dance celebration

A grant from the New York State Music Fund will support the Buffalo/Williamsville Poetry, Music, Dance Celebration in 2007 and 2008, through a $70,000 award made to Just Buffalo Literary Center.

The group was founded 7 years ago by Williamsville East teachers John Kryder and Stephen Shewen, and it included Buffalo's Interdisciplinary Performance Series.

The next celebration will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26, at Kleinhan's Music Hall.

Students in Buffalo and Williamsville School districts are invited to submit poems to be considered for the Celebration through Feb. 28. Send to Just Buffalo Literary Center, 617 Main St., Suite 20 A, Buffalo, NY 14203. Compositions must be postmarked by Feb. 16 and sent to Stephen Shewan, Williamsville East High School, 151 Paradise Road in East Amherst.
