Plus And Beyond

Theatre Plus will present an eclectic production of short works, music performances, dance and visual arts exhibits by women artists of WNY when "Plus and Beyond" is on stage from Thursday, Jan. 18 to Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Alleyway Theatre's Main Street Cabaret.

This annual program of diverse artistic forms, formerly known as Escaping The Box, has been offered in January over the past several years. This season, variety is taken to the extreme as Artistic Director Kim Piazza has included elements as expected as theatrical monologues, as unexpected as Native American dancing, and as surprising as fire dancing.

The Plus And Beyond lineup includes actor Victoria Perez-Maggiolo, performing two monologues; the musical group Dosa Reality (Cherie Ruben, vocalist; Larry Decz, keyboard; and Dave Pinson, guitar) performing five original works; author/ composer Patti Bartkowiak reading from her work "Question" and playing an original piano composition; traditional Native American dancers Darice Samson and Destiny Samson performing "The Fancy Shawl Dance" and "The Hoop Dance"; singer/quitarist Tina-Marie Williams performing a number of original songs; and fire dancer Karen Sterling performing two hot numbers.

Also, the Main Street Cabaret lobby will feature black and white photography by Kristin Partis and works by painter Karen Sterling.

Performances are at 8 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 8:30 p.m. Saturdays. Tickets are $20 general, $10 students, and are available online at www.alleyway. com or at the door 30 minutes before showtime.

The Royal Dance Theatre will also offer its production of "Match Girl" at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 20 and 27 at the Main Street Cabaret, 672 Main St., Buffalo.
