Upshaw to play in second senior all-star game University at Buffalo tight end Chad Upshaw, who recently completed his senior season, will get another opportunity to showcase his skills for National Football League scouts when he participates in the Inta Juice North South All-Star Classic in Houston, TX at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Upshaw, who had more receiving yards than any tight end in Bulls' history, already participated in the Magnolia Grid-Iron Classic in Jackson, Miss. on Dec. 23. His performance that week, including two catches in the game, led to invites from both the North-South Classic, as well as the Las Vegas All-American Classic, with Upshaw choosing to travel to Houston to participate in a game that will be televised live on ESPN2. The game replaces the former Blue-Gray Game, formerly played on Christmas Day in Mobile, Ala. The game will be played for the first time in Houston at GPISD Stadium. Upshaw, a 6-4, 250-pound tight end, was ranked by College Football News as the 22nd best tight end in the nation prior to his senior season. In his final game in the Blue and White, Upshaw grabbed a season-best six catches for 83 yards, including the seventh touchdown reception of his career. In his senior season, he led the team with 35 receptions for a total of 419 yards. He ended with 972 yards receiving, the most ever by a UB tight end, and was just one catch short of the most by a Bulls' tight end. Upshaw also compiled a streak of 22 consecutive games with a pass caught to end his career. |
