Mite Gray Sabres down White Sabres for first regular season win

The Gray Sabres won their first regular season game of the year, downing the White Sabres, 4-3.

In a tight first period, the Gray Sabres held a 2-1 edge. Goals by David Balk and Rachel DePerio gave the Gray Sabres the lead. Brady Kyle's unassisted tally was the White Sabres' goal.

The second period was very tight. Gray Sabre Brendan Limburg was stopped on a breakaway by Gino Dire, who was brilliant the whole game.

Michael Wells' late tally with an assist to Jeff Browne left the second period tied at 2-2.

Amit Gulati made two saves on breakaways by the White Sabres until DePerio found the back of the net on a perfect set up from Adam Higgins, his second assist.

Tommy Ruggiero scored the eventual game winner to open it up to 4-2. Browne quickly answered for the White Sabres from Sam Kinerk, his second assist.

As the game wound down, the White Sabres poured it on but Gulati was strong and preserved the Gray Sabres win.
