Intoxicated female rests in stranger's home

(Editors note: The Bee's police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.)

Friday, Dec. 29

+ Police responded to a Main Street apartment where a landlord forced himself into an apartment after the teenage tenant said he couldn't enter without her mother being there.

+ A man reported finding a statue with its head missing in a lot on Wehrle Drive. He thought it was from a church.

+ A charity money box was taken from a drive-up window sometime on Christmas Day at a Niagara Falls Boulevard business.

+ A suspicious man was reported on Niagara Falls Boulevard. The female complainant said she wasn't sure what he was looking at, but it made her uncomfortable.

+ An officer ticketed a driver on Maple Road after the officer witnessed him speeding. Upon the officer's approach of the vehicle, the driver made several quick lane changes, appearing to try and evade the officer. He was ticketed for speeding and was advised.

Saturday, Dec. 30

+ A caller reported from Hirschfield Drive that an underage drinking party, involving funnels and "possible use of weed," was taking place. The party broke up prior to patrol arrival.

+ A Grace Avenue resident found sugar in the gas tank of a vehicle.

+ The daughter of a resident at a Bassett Road health care facility reported that a very expensive bed was missing.

+ A Miller Road resident complained that two individuals were "messing around" with the complainant's mailbox and left a brown substance inside it. In the morning the complainant realized it was dirt.

Sunday, Dec. 31 + On Clearwater Drive, a rock was thrown through a window.

+ A customer at a restaurant in the food court of the Boulevard Mall went behind the counter and took $230 in cash. The suspect, a black male, 5 feet 4 inches tall, left in a four-door blue Neon.

+ A Teakwood Terrace resident reported that there were tires stacked up in front of his house and a few of the houses on the street. He didn't know where they came from. The tires were gone when police arrived.

Monday, Jan. 1

+ Four loud bangs were reported in the North French Road area. The complainant was unsure if they were fireworks or gunshots, and the noise came four times, every one to two minutes. The area was checked and nothing found.

+ A Maple Road gas station employee reported that an intoxicated man who wasn't unable to walk, drove to the station and was pumping gas. Police found no problem, nobody drunk and just a University at Buffalo student.

+ A male had been sitting on a bench on Niagara Falls Boulevard all day. He was given a ride to the Buffalo bus line.

+ Damage was caused to several Rollingwood lawns on numerous occasions during the past two weeks.

+ Police assisted in looking for a black male with dreadlocks suspected of an armed robbery of the Radio Shack at Delaware Avenue and Sheridan Drive.

Tuesday, Jan. 2

+ Criminal mischief was reported on South Woodshire in which an umbrella was taken from a front porch and an oil pan was thrown on a neighbor's car. The umbrella was located down the street.

+ A passing motorist on Niagara Falls Boulevard reported a female in a coat and ski cap crying and kneeling on the sidewalk across from the cemetery.

+ On Berehaven Drive, a Mercedes was on the front lawn of a residence and may have hit the house. The intoxicated female driver entered another home, where she doesn't live, and lay down on the couch. She had a finger laceration and complained of chest pains.

Wednesday, Jan. 3

+ A 911 dispatcher who heard screaming in the background of an Allenhurst Road house got in touch with the grandmother, who was dealing with her 14-year-old granddaughter. Another granddaughter, 7, had called about her sister taking pennies from grandma's purse.

+ A Hidden Ridge Court resident called police, stating that here were two deer in the back yard by the sliding glass door, and the complainant was afraid they would try and enter the house.

Thursday, Jan. 4

+ Police responded to Pineview Drive where two men were collecting scrap wire from a Dumpster. The parties were advised and told to leave the wire.

+ A TV, luggage and clothing were causing an obstruction in the roadway of Interstate 990.

+ A Tonawanda Creek Road resident reported that dog feces had been thrown onto the lawn several times during the week.
