Andrew J. Sobczyk, 26, an executive assistant, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, in his Williamsville home.

Born in Buffalo, Mr. Sobczyk attended Forest Elementary and Mill Middle Schools inWilliamsville and was a 1998 graduate of Canisius High School. He received a bachelor's degree in political science from Canisius College in 2002 and was pursuing a master's degree in business administration from Canisius College.
Mr. Sobczyk was executive assistant to Richard Stencil, chairman of Superior Group in Williamsville, for the past two years. Prior to that, he worked two years as a research analyst in the local office of State Sen. Mary Lou Rath, R-Williamsville.
Mr. Sobczyk had an active interest in politics and was a past officer for Erie County Young Republicans and an Amherst district representative. He was a member of Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society and Phi Alpha Delta Law Honor Society. He also was on the Canisius High School Academic Honor Roll and Canisius College Dean's List.
He helped raise money for 10 years through Ride for Roswell. He enjoyed cars, classical music, traveling, golf, skiing and family gatherings.
He was a parishioner and altar server at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Williamsville.
Mr. Sobczyk is survived by his parents, Chester J. and Maryann; a sister, Amanda; and his grandparents, Henry and Florence Gajewski, and Irene.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Jan. 8 in St. Gregory the Great Church.
