Lecture to be held about

paintings and business

A lecture will be held on paintings and antique auction business as well as free appraisal of paintings. The lecture will be given by Sam Haney of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3 at the church hall on Longmeadow Drive in Amherst. Support group to meet at

St. Benedict Church

The Rev. John Kuhlman will offer suggestions on how to deal with big and little disappointments in life at the next session of “Come and See” at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4 at St. Benedict Church, located at Main Street and Eggert Road in Amherst. AAA to offer driver

education classes

AAA Western and Central New York will present a 2007 winter session “Licensed to Learn” driver education class on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The class will be held at the travel and insurance center, 100 International Drive in Amherst. The first session is slated to run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, and ends Tuesday, Feb. 13. In addition, class participants will be required to attend one five-hour Sunday classroom session from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Jan. 28 or Feb. 11. SOS recovery group

meets Tuesdays

The Amherst chapter of Secular Organizations for Sobriety meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Road. Save Our Selves is a nonprofit network of local groups dedicated to helping individuals achieve and maintain sobriety. Stroller Strides, the nation’s largest fitness program for new moms, meets at 4 p.m. Wednesdays and 9:15 a.m. Thursdays in the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road in Amherst. Classes are also held at 9 a.m. Tuesdays at the Boulevard Mall, 700 Alberta Drive in Amherst. The first class is free. Adult support group meetings for people with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month at Ascension Lutheran Church, 4640 Main St. in Snyder.
