Black Sabres clip Red Wings Down three players, the Mite Black Sabres still managed a great game against the Red Wings, winning 5-1. In the first 20 seconds of the game, Nick Carbone took the puck down but it was knocked out to the boards by the Red Wings. Carbone chased it to the blue line, took a shot on goal and scored. A number of Black Sabres played double shifts to compensate for the missing players. Tyler Roberto and Joey Lupica made some incredible saves near the blue line to keep the puck in the Black Sabres’ attacking zone in the first period. The Black Sabres scored two more goals in the first period, the first, by Noah Bachwitz after tearing down the ice, and the second, by Carbone. Some fantastic passing and hustling near the net by Noah Rosenthal, Nick Pieri and Dan Mosher resulted in many shots on goal, most of which were saved by Red Wings goalkeeper, John Falvey. In the second period, Lupica made a save from near the blue line and shot at the net, only missing by the smallest of margins. Pieri chased the loose puck and passed it across the net to Elliot Whittaker, who passed it to Matthew Shiring, who was able to knock it in to score the Black Sabres’ fourth goal. Christian Rottner had an outstanding game in the net for the Black Sabres, shutting out the hard-working Red Wings until the third period when Connor Wagner made a breakaway run and shot in a great pass. The final Black Sabres’ goal came in the third period and was the second for Shiring, assisted by Bachwitz and Whittaker. |
