Bruins win first league game

The Mite Bruins won their first league game of the season, downing the Gray Sabres, 3-2.

It was a highly contested hard-fought game from the start. Goalies Patrick Mangan of the Bruins and Scott Daigler of the Gray Sabres made one fantastic save after another.

The Gray Sabres got on the board first with a goal by Noah Rienhart. Dylan Birzon of the Bruins answered back with a nifty goal, his first of the season. Joey DeMarco put the Bruins in the lead with a long wrist shot that got past the goalie.

The line of Birzon, Quinn Verpoten, Steven Metzger, Chris Mostowy and Matthew Maynard applied pressure to the Gray Sabres all game long. Rachel Deperio of the Gray Sabres made one fantastic move after another, finally netting a goal in the third.

Birzon put the Bruins ahead for good, netting his second goal of the game.

This was the most offense the Bruins applied in a game all year. Anthony DeMaria and Matthew Drewery put multiple shots on the Gray Sabres.
