New black belts honored at Master Gorino’s Pil-Sung Tae Kwon-Do

Students at Master Gorino's Pil-Sung Tae Kwon-Do recently achieved various ranks of black belts. Honored were: front row, left to right, Michael Walizada, Cory Shelton, Quincey Hall, Avery Weissman, Dale Martin; second row, Kwa Jang-Nim Robert Summers, Taylor Eldridge, Dylan Hall, Carol Mogavero, Chloe Costello, Sa Bum Nim Chuck Gorino and back row, Stuart Weissman, Rebecca Mogavero and Chelsea Oliver.
Master Chuck Gorino and Grand Master Robert Summers awarded black belts to accomplished students of Master Gorino’s Pil-Sung Tae Kwon-Do on Dec. 15.

Awarded second degree black belts are Carol Mogavero, of Tonawanda and Chloe Costello, of Amherst after five years of training and tournament competition.

A first degree black belt was awarded to Snyder

resident, Stuart Weissman, who has been a student at Master Gorino’s Pil-Sung Tae Kwon-Do for three years.

Junior black belts were awarded to Rebecca Mogavero, 14, of Tonawanda, Taylor Eldridge, 14, of Cheektowaga, Cory Shelton, 11, Amherst and Chelsea Oliver, 11.

Child black belts were awarded to Michael Walizada, 9, of Cheektowaga, Dylan Hall, 11, of Amherst, Quincey Hall, 9, Avery Weissman, 10, of Snyder and Dale Martin, 9.

Black Belt testing requires expertise in performing nine forms, multiple hand and leg strikes to break wood, weapons demonstrations and successful self-defense performance in gang attacks. All students are required to provide a character reference in order to advance to their black belts.
