Willard S. Berg, 77, of Snyder, a retired graphic artist and photographer for the Buffalo Courier-Express, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006, in Harris Hill Nursing Facility in Williamsville.
Born in Buffalo, he graduated from Hutchinson Tech in 1948 and attended the University of Buffalo for two years. He served in the Army from 1951 to 1953 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan.
Mr. Berg worked for over 30 years as a freelance photographer and graphic artist for the Buffalo Courier-Express until the paper closed in 1982. He continued to work as a freelance artist and photographer until his retirement in 2002.
Mr. Berg was a member of Amherst Methodist Church and Gold’s Gym, as well as Great Books for over 10 years. He was also a member and past president of the Buffalo Aero Club. An avid walker, his family said everyone in the community knew him.
His wife of 41 years, Sylvia Anne Fraser Berg, died in 2001.
Mr. Berg is survived by two sons, Erik F. and William A.; a daughter, Michele Berg Henriques; and six grandchildren.
Services were private.
