Police interrupt alleged burglary, arrest suspect

Amherst Police arrested an 18-year-old Lackawanna man after responding to a call about a burglary in process.

The call was placed at 7:15 a.m. Dec. 27 about a Capen Boulevard house that was being burglarized.

Officers Jeffrey Gilbert and David Wik responded. They discovered a broken window and apparent forced entry into the residence.

The officers confronted the suspect as he exited a rear door. The suspect was in possession of stolen property from the residence, according to the police report.

Anthony Gilmore, 18, was charged with second degree burglary, criminal mischief and petit larceny.
