Give credit where credit is due

I read with great interest the article in both the Amherst and Clarence Bees concerning the payment of the longstanding sewer bill by Clarence to Amherst.

To set the record straight, I must take exception to Shelly Schratz’s quote, “It shows that three women in a room can accomplish more than three men in a room.” I do not doubt that being a fact, but then the text alludes that she was the third woman in the room.

The truth is that Shelly was only a hindrance to the process. She came to our town weeks ago asking us to “pay up.” Time after time we told her we were never sent the proper information from Amherst to determine our true responsibility. She simply did not listen. The two women in the room who put it together were Darlene Carroll from Amherst and Pam Smith from Clarence. Shelly popped in for a few minutes, adding nothing.

The article states that Shelly had been working toward a settlement for years. If she would have been listening, this would have been taken care of years ago. I have no problem having “three women” work out agenda items between Amherst and Clarence ... as long as one is not a politician who contributes nothing but takes credit for a process completed by others.
