Street name causes confusion

After reading Jessica Finch’s article (“Amherst Town Board members want street names to be significant” published on Dec. 13), I decided to write to the editor hoping that others would find my assessment of her article and my street name to be interesting.

I would be curious to know who approved my street name: Keph Drive. Such a short street name, you would think, should be easy to say. However, when I need to give my street name, I have to verbally spell it.

This is a sample of the spelling of my street that has come on mail to my house: HEPH, HEPT, KELP, KELPH, KEPF, KEPHV, KEPP, KEPTH and KETH.

I would think the Post Office would not be too thrilled about the name either.

Maybe this new resolution will get Town Board Members to think twice before allowing “cutesy” street names. Another comes to mind: Berehaven Drive. Been there, done that too!
