Spindle items

WHAT WAS THAT AGAIN? — This week’s letter to the editor on the naming of streets brought a smile to my face as, I have experienced a similar situation. According to the writer, a Keph Drive resident, the street’s name is a problem because it has to be spelled out for people whenever it is mentioned. The resident’s incoming mail has been addressed in a variety of ways, from Heph to Keth.

I live on Knotty Pine Court, a woodsy-sounding name that appeals to me but is apparently confusing to other people. I am often asked to spell it when I say it aloud. When people take a wild guess, the most common misspelling is Notty or Notting, but the best one was on some junk mail addressed to Naughty Pine Court. I like that, too. It makes our little cul-de-sac sound far more interesting than it really is.
