Village holiday events set for Dec. 1

The Williamsville Business Association will hold its annual Village Holiday Open House to usher in the holiday season starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1.

New this year will be horse-drawn hayrides from noon to 2 p.m. at the Williamsville Water Mill on East Spring Street. Santa Claus will also be on hand at the mill for free photographs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Storytelling will be held at the Williamsville Library, 5571 Main St., from noon to 2 p.m. Children can meet the Gingerbread Man and decorate their own gingerbread cookies. Cookie decorating will also be available at Village Desserts, 5542 Main St.

Down the street at Artyard Studio, 5701 Main St., ornament decorating will be held from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a nominal fee for the ornament, or a donation to the Food Bank will accepted instead. The Williamsville Fire Department will hold an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Those interested in shopping during the event can participate in the Holiday Hunt. Shoppers should keep a lookout for various village landmarks, stop by the locations and write down the answers to questions. Prizes include dinner for two at the Pizza Plant in the Walker Center and a deluxe overnight stay at the Hampton Inn. There is also a chance to win a $500 shopping spree through the WBA. Anytime you shop or dine in the village now through Christmas, you can enter to win.

At 6 p.m., the Village Youth and Recreation Committee will sponsor the Village Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony in Island Park behind Town Hall. A bonfire, hot chocolate and cookies, and free pictures with Santa will be part of the event.
