      For 17 years, the University at Buffalo has honored the memory of slain student Linda Yalem and promoted personal safety by holding a 5K race on the school's North Campus.

Williamsville students named to All-State music ensembles
      Nine students from the Williamsville Central School District have been named to All-State music ensembles and will perform at the 2007 New York State School Music Association Conference Nov. 29-Dec. 2 in Rochester. Eight other students were named as alternates.

      Kadimah School of Buffalo will host "Test Drive Kadimah" and a "Bring your Jewish Buddy to School" Day on Monday, Oct. 8 at the school, 1085 Eggert Road in Amherst. Students from kindergarten to sixth grade are welcome. To register, call 836-6903, ext. 105.

      Students in grades six through 12 who have hearing loss can enter the Rochester Institute of Technology's National Science Fair for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students. To qualify, students must submit an entry form and a 250-word project summary.
