Laughter from show disrupts neighbor

(Editors note: The Bee's police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.)

Friday, Aug. 10

• A Vine Lane resident called police about three youths who swore at the complainant's children.

• A mailman on Exeter Road reported that he had been chased down the street by a blonde Labrador and had to spray the dog.

• Two males on Columbia Drive were reported as "suspicious people" after they told the complainant that their life goal was to meet the neighbors. One of the suspects was missing a front tooth.

• A knife with "rotating blades" was found on Maple Road near Wilson Farms.

Saturday, Aug. 11

• A band playing on Paradise Road was so loud it was causing the complainant's windows to rattle.

• A guest at a Flint Road hotel complained that people from another room were sliding sexually explicit letters under his door and he wanted them, and their parents, spoken to.

• A dog was reportedly locked in a truck of a vehicle without ventilation on Sheridan Drive.

• A fire was reported behind a building on Transit Road. A girl was seen trying to put it out. The report also stated that a male and female were walking from the site with a red gas can.

• A Jonathan Place resident reported that wind chimes were taken from the front porch.

• On New Road, a resident reported finding a carton of chocolate milk near the gas tank of his car and didn't know if it had been poured in. Police believed that hadn't occurred.

Sunday, Aug. 12

• On Princeton Avenue, the complainant stated that neighbors were talking so loud it woke the complainant's daughter. Police responded and were told by the suspects that they were watching a funny program on Comedy Central and would close the windows.

• A man was reported for driving at a high rate of speed and making several passes through the area on Kings Highway. He was looking for youths that threw a rock onto his property.

• A Maple Road resident called police when all the pipes in her house started shaking and she didn't know why. The problem was linked to a water main break on Sprucewood.

• A Sprucewood Terrace resident reported the water main break was outside the house, causing the car to be under water and the basement to flood. Smoke was also detected. A second call requested an ambulance for a possible heart attack.

• A woman needed assistance after dropping her keys in a sewer grate on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

• On Hamilton Drive, a woman was punched in the head by her 24-year-old sister. The report also noted a tae kwon do weapon was in the house. The parties were separated.

Monday, Aug. 13

• A suspicious male was reportedly carrying a large cardboard box on Transit Road. The complainant believed it was full of cigarettes.

• A youth was reported for throwing water bottles at passing cars on Renaissance Drive.

• Fireworks were set off in a Vine Lane resident's mailbox. No damage was reported, but the box was full of ashes and soot.

• A driver for a trucking company was locked inside a gate on Niagara Falls Boulevard. The individual planned to leave the truck.

• On Heim Road, a man was reportedly in a back yard shooting at deer that were eating apples from a tree. The man was last seen going into a yard.

Tuesday, Aug. 14

• On Garrison Road, six youths were reportedly flipping benches and possibly stole a stop sign. No damage was found, and the youths were picked up by their parents.

• On Burroughs Drive, a woman complained that an animal, bird or bat entered the house. A flying squirrel was extracted from the home.

• A Sunmist Square resident was notified of a more than $2,000 balance owed to NYSEG, but she stated that she doesn't have an account with the company.

Wednesday, Aug. 15

• A Yale Avenue resident complained that seven or eight youths were sitting on her porch, and she wanted them sent on their way.

• On Ayer Road, three young females were reportedly throwing items into the roadway and laughing as cars tried to avoid them.

• An attempted break-in reported at a South Elliott Creek Road residence was caused by the cats. They had knocked the screen out.

• A 45-year-old man started yelling because he couldn't get on the computer at the library on Hopkins Road. The complainant said she would call back if he returned.

Thursday, Aug. 16

• A man speeding on a motorcycle was reported on Niagara Falls Boulevard. He also gave girls from the Jolly Jug Bar rides on the bike every night.

• A man was bitten by a bat on Rockford Place. He went to the hospital to seek attention.

• A motorist on Youngs Road complained that the vehicle was hit by several water balloons.

• A resident on Tee Court complained that a female and a male got out of a car, spray painted a "C" on the tree and left.
