Kathryn Przybyla, a student at Sacred Heart Academy, has been selected as a Claes Nobel Academic Scholarship Semifinalist by the National Society of High School Scholars. She was selected from among 11,000 applicants based on excellence in academics, leadership and service activities.

The Amherst Middle School

Concert Band, under the direction of Jeffrey J. Palmer, performed a New York State School Music Association Level 3 program at the spring NYSSMA Large Ensemble Festival at Transit Middle School. The Concert Band played three pieces and received a Silver rating from the NYSSMA adjudicators.

David Eddy of Williamsville has been awarded a $500 scholarship from ElderWood Senior Care. The 2007 graduate of St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute is a dietary aide at ElderWood Health Care at Oakwood in Williamsville. Eddy will attend the Rochester Institute of Technology in the fall to study computer engineering. He is the son of David and Marissa Eddy.
