      Members of the Williamsville East High School Future Business Leaders Association won three first-place awards at the recent state Future Business Leaders competition. Senior Adam Korn took first place in the Future Business Leader contest and junior Lisa Chen finished first in parliamentary procedure.

Maureen's in the Village brightens Main Street
      There was a need for a flower shop on Main Street in the village, so Maureen's Buffalo Wholesale Flower Market put one there. Opened in April, Maureen's in the Village, is the business' second location, which has its 20,000-square-foot warehouse in downtown Buffalo.

      Labor Dept. sets workshop for union officials The U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Labor Management Standards will sponsor a one-day workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 1 at the Niagara Center, 130 Elmwood Ave., Buffalo. The program is designed to help union officials in Western New York meet their record-keeping and reporting requirements.

Research aimed to help arthritis sufferers
      Buffalo Cardiology and Pulmonary Associates, P.C. is taking part in an international research project in hopes of finding new ways to reduce pain from arthritis. Partnering with the Cleveland Clinic, Buffalo Cardiology and Pulmonary Associates is recruiting participants for what it calls The Precision Study.

      The Amherst Chamber of Commerce has planned its next Business After House for 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Buffalo Wild Wings, 5431 Transit Road, between Klein and Maple roads, Amherst. Business After Hours is a monthly, casual networking event sponsored by a chamber member and hosted by an Amherst restaurant or bar.
