Urbanczyk named Scholar All-American University of Rochester senior forward and Williamsville native Emily Urbanczyk was named to the 2006 Scholar All-America Team by members of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. Urbanczyk will be honored at the NSCAA’s national convention in Indianapolis, Ind. from January 10-14, 2007. It has been a banner year for her academically and athletically for the women’s soccer team. Earlier this fall, she was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. On the front line, Urbanczyk led the team in scoring with eight goals and three assists for 19 points. Each of her eight goals was a game winner. Urbanczyk carries a cumulative grade point average of 3.93 with a double major of Political Science and History and a minor in Spanish. She is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society, a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, a member of the Political Science Undergraduate Council, and a research assistant to the chairperson of the Political Science Department. Urbanczyk was named NSCAA First Team All-Region, First Team All-New York State, and First Team All-UAA. East Amherst’s Amy Thompson, a Clarence High graduate, was one of 14 Rochester players named to the University Athletic Association’s All-Academic Team. |
