Girls Soccer
East places quartet on All-WNY team

Williamsville East was the best girls soccer team in Western New York and was rewarded for its effort with four selections on the All-WNY First Team.

Forward Rachel Piemonte, midfielder Jenny Griffin, defender Christa Morgante and goalie Molly Bojanek made the All-WNY First Team. Aleks Quenneville made the Second Team.

Grand Island, who East beat for the Section VI Class A title, also had four First Team picks.

Williamsville North midfielder Shannon Algoe and Jillian Piaggione earned All-WNY Second Team and Honorable Mention honors, respectively.

Here is a list of divisional all-stars for Amherst, Sweet Home, Williamsville East, Williamsville North, Williamsville South, and Sacred Heart.

Amherst

Defender Paula Jones and forward Abbie Gowen made the ECIC Division III First Team. Defenders Ellen Janicki and Sarah Lasker made the Second Team.

Sweet Home

Freshman goalie Angela Williamson earned ECIC II First Team honors. Defender Kayla Lyons and midfielder Rebecca Schnirel made the Second Team.

Williamsville East

The Lady Flames dominated ECIC III voting with seven picks. Midfielders Jenny Griffin and Aleks Quenneville, forward Rachel Piemonte, defender Christa Morgante and goalie Molly Bojanek made the First Team. Defender Neha Bakhai and forward Jessica Kowalski made the Second Team.

Griffin made the Class A All-New York State team. Bojanek was a third team selection.

Williamsville North

Midfielders Shannon Algoe and Jill Piaggione and defender Karrie Gurbacki made

the ECIC I First Team. Defender Leeanne Pinski and forward Hillary Jacobson made the Second Team.

Williamsville South

Defenders Stephanie Lucey, Jessica Sheehan and Carrie Connolly had three of the four ECIC II First Team honors. Defender Emily Novak and forward Elizabeth Decker made the Second Team.

Sacred Heart

Midfielder Alicia Pontello and forward Katherine Bougard earned All-Catholic First Team honors. Forward Christine Loftus and defender Natalie Coppola made the North Division First Team.
