North Fed JV wins two by shutouts

Williamsville North’s Federation JV team played St. Joe’s on Saturday, Dec. 16 followed by a game against rival Williamsville East on Sunday, Dec. 17.

It was apparent early on in the St. Joe’s game that North was a more polished team. St. Joe’s never generated much offense and North capitalized on a few mistakes St. Joe’s defenders made in their own end.

Chris Marsack led all North scorers with a hat trick and an assist. Matt Bauman recorded a five-point game (goal, four assists). Ian Moskal and Jake Eldridge had a goal each and two assists in the 10-0 game. Kim Sass recorded the shutout. The East game was evenly played and could have gone either way.

North’s Sass and East’s J. Lewis stopped everything in the first period.

Sean Durfee’s power-play goal in the second was all the scoring heading into the third. East hit two goal posts before North’s Austin Heusner tucked in a rebound to secure the 2-0 victory.

It was the first time in three years North recorded back-to-back shutouts. Jordan Fahnestock, Brian Jaszka and Ben Katz led the North defense.
