Nominations for youth awards sought

The Amherst Youth Board is seeking nominations for its 34th annual “Service to Youth” Awards Dinner to be held on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

The “Service to Youth” awards acknowledge the efforts of those who have devoted countless hours of service to the children and youth of our community, as well as recognizing those individuals and groups who have made outstanding financial contributions to youth programs in the community during 2006.

Nominations will be accepted in the following categories: adult — one volunteer, one professional; youth — one male, one female volunteer; and business.

A nominee must live in Amherst, or the village of Williamsville, and have made significant contributions to youth in our community. Groups may also be nominated under adult and youth categories. Nominees need not be directly involved with the Youth Board or any of its funded programs to be eligible.

Anyone may nominate. Nomination forms are available through the Amherst Youth Board Office located in the Harlem Road Community Center, 4255 Harlem Road, Amherst, or by calling 631-7215.

The deadline for nominations is 4:30 p.m., Friday, Jan. 5. Nominations may be mailed, delivered, or faxed to the Amherst Youth Board. For more information, call Mary Diana Pouli at 631-7215.
