The Amherst chapter of Secular Organizations for Sobriety meets at 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays at the Center for Inquiry, 1310 Sweet Home Road. Save Our Selves (SOS) is a nonprofit network of local groups dedicated to helping individuals achieve and maintain sobriety. With more than 20,000 members worldwide, it is an alternative recovery method for those alcoholics or drug addicts uncomfortable with the spiritual content of 12-step programs. Museum to hold

winter fundraiser

The Amherst Museum is accepting new hats, gloves, scarves and mittens to decorate the Mitten Tree through Dec. 31 at the museum, 3755 Tonawanda Creek Road in Amherst. In return, donators will receive a complementary admission to visit the museum. St. Pius X Squire Circle # 4823, the youth organization of the Knights of Columbus, will be sponsoring a Christmas musical titled “Cricket County Christmas.” Performances will be held at 8 and 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16 at the Father Weber Center, 1700 N.
