Buffalo In-Line Hockey Group
535’s win regular season junior crown

This past Saturday, the 535’s locked up the regular season crown in the Buffalo In-Line Hockey Group junior division.

Evan Dressel (Amherst), Nick Antoniadas (Amherst) and Jim Krolikowski (Lancaster) have been the offensive spark plugs all year and that was no different on Saturday as Krolikowski’s hat trick led the champs to a 3-2 win over the Blue Flames.

Phil Mayer (Amherst) leads a back line along with Aiden Abraszek (Clarence), Brandon Fox (Amherst), C.J. Henry (Amherst) and Jonathan Myers (Amherst).

Tyler Anderson (Tonawanda) lowered his goals against average to 2.33 in the win.

The boys still have the playoffs ahead of them with a strong Blue Flame team and the up and coming Hurricanes providing stiff competition. The Hurricanes rode four goals from Greg Newman (Tonawanda) to a 4-3 win on Saturday.

In the major division, one-goal games continued to be the story. In the past eight BIHG games, seven have been decided by one goal. The other game was a two-goal spread with an empty net tally.

The Red Raiders beat the major division leading Black Aces, 7-6, with Cheektowaga’s Roy Wasiewicz scoring five times for the victors, including the game winner with only 35 seconds left. Amherst’s Joe Wolf and Clarence’s Tommy Wolfe had strong games for the Raiders. Grand Island’s David Campuzano had a hat trick for the Aces and Amherst’s John Lyons had four assists.

In other major division action Tonawanda’s Swan brothers, Justin and Jason, combined for

five goals on the way to a 6-5 triumph over Team X. Tonawanda’s Taylor Setlock had two goals and two assists for the X men.

BIHG is the premier youth in-line hockey league in Erie County and plays every Saturday morning at the EPIC Center on Wehrle Dr. in Amherst. New players in the junior (13 and under) and major (16 and under) divisions are always welcome, particularly with the second season beginning in January.
