Expectations high for North boys swimming

Coming off a perfect 2005-06 season highlighted by an ECIC and Section VI team championship, expectations are high for Williamsville North’s boys swimming team.

“Our expectations are high but we realize that we are a very different team from last year and to be successful we absolutely need everyone to contribute,” said North coach Flynn Burroughs.

Burroughs returns an outstanding group of senior captains in Brandon Beckinghausen, Chris Deptula and Matt Krupp.

“Those three understand the importance of preparation and can be counted on to lead this team in the right direction,” said Burroughs.

Juniors Mike Burns, Sean Beckinhausen, Chris Han, Michael Lin, as well as sophomores Chris Arcara,

Robby Novak, Stephen Hill, and Kyle Siskar will need to step into key roles throughout the dual meet season if the team intends to repeat as ECIC champions, said Burroughs.

Arcara will dive for North.

“He is much improved from last year and is expected to be amongst the top divers in the division this season,” said Burroughs.

Lin will again team up with Beckinghausen, Deptula and Krupp to defend their Section VI 400-yard freestyle relay title and have their sights set on a state title, said Burroughs.

“Last year they placed fourth in that event at the New York State Championships and are amongst the favorites this season,” said Burroughs.

Beckinghausen and Lin qualified for states last year in the 200 free.
