Man painted in green spotted around town

(Editors note: The Bee’s police blotter is a sampling of unusual, sometimes humorous calls received by the police department. It is not intended to be a complete record of all incidents reported.)

Friday, Dec. 1

• A Bernhardt Drive resident complained that four youths on bicycles smashed her Christmas decorations with a stick.

 A trampoline blew into the roadway on Renaissance Drive.

 Debris from a construction site on Harlem Road was blowing into the roadway, including 4-by-4 sheets of wood.

 A portable toilet was removed from the intersection of Maple Road and Forest Avenue.

Saturday, Dec. 2  Two youths tried to break into a school on Hopkins Road. They were taken into custody, and the principal said he wanted to press charges.

 The manager of a Main Street business reported watching a man who appeared intoxicated, park his car in the exit lane and possibly go into one of the bars.

 A man walking on Wehrle Drive was stumbling in and out of traffic. When questioned by police he said his girlfriend was on her way to pick him up because he was intoxicated.

 A desk clerk at a hockey rink on Flint Road requested police assistance when neither the youth players nor their parents would listen to her requests.

Sunday, Dec. 3

 On Windermere Boulevard a woman reported that there was a man in her yard, and she wasn’t sure what he was doing. Police reported that he was picking up wood.

 A man in a knit hat and a dark jacket was standing in a Niagara Falls Boulevard parking lot with a dog and was stopping drivers, telling them he was a police officer.

 A person called from North Ivyhurst Road and said there was a man in a window and he was painted all green. A call was also made from a Sheridan Drive business about a green man from North Ivyhurst who was giving patrons a hard time.

 An unknown person left an Alberta Drive grocery store with a basket full of unpaid groceries.

Monday, Dec. 4

 On Country Parkway a man reported that he started his truck in the driveway to let it warm up, and when he went back out there were footprints surrounding his truck.

 A six-car accident was reported on Burroughs Drive. All the vehicles reportedly spun out on top of the hill. A similar call was placed from Youngs Road where another 12 cars were stuck on an icy hill.

 A Kim Court resident complained that there was a large, black Great Dane in front of the residence.

 The window of a vehicle on Lamont Drive was smashed, and it appeared someone had ransacked the car. However, nothing was missing.

Tuesday, Dec. 5

 On Capen Boulevard a resident said she tried to assist a woman who was honking her horn and pounding on doors and windows of a neighbor’s house. The woman said she didn’t need help; she was trying to wake her mother who was in the house.

 A jet ski was taken from a Dodge Road residence.

 Amherst police assisted Tonawanda police on Niagara Falls Boulevard in looking for an attempted bank robber. A black man wearing a black coat and gauze on his nose, handed a note to a teller. No weapon was displayed, and he left without any money.

Wednesday, Dec. 6

 Two people in a truck became irate and starting yelling at a fast food restaurant drive-through employee on Niagara Falls Boulevard because the wrong sandwiches were made.

 A man was apprehended on Main Street and taken to police headquarters after carrying a knife and stealing watches and hats from a business.

 A group of youths were throwing snowballs at motorists on Harlem Road.

Thursday, Dec. 7

 A woman reported that someone took her purse while she was pumping gas on Main Street. She said she didn’t see anyone.

 An injured goose sitting under a tree was reported on Essjay Road. Police stated that the goose was fine, just hungry and eating berries from the tree.

 A man jogging on Burroughs Drive reported that he had been followed by a car.
