Alfred Mallon, retired insurance agent
Born in Buffalo, he graduated from East High School and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute. He served as a Yeoman First Class in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Mallon worked 12 years for U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service in Buffalo then worked for over 30 years as an insurance agent for State Farm Insurance Co. before retiring in May 1986. Mr. Mallon was a member of American Legion, VFW, Amherst Lodge and Ismailia Shiners. He also sang for a number of years with Shring Chanters. He was a member of the Plewacki Post American Legion junior baseball team who were New York State champions in 1936 after defeating over 100 teams in competition. His wife, Ruth, of Clarence, said the team was hoping to bring home a national championship title to Buffalo but were defeated by a team from Michigan. Besides his wife, Mr. Mallon is survived by a daughter, Patricia Gerber of Lancaster; a son, William of East Amherst; and three grandchildren. Services held Wednesday, Nov. 22 from Faith United Church of Christ. Arrangements were made by Amigone Funeral Home. |
