Predictions: Chargers will wrap up Bills Since the bye week, the Bills have been playing much-improved football and are riding a two-game winning streak into this week's contest against the San Diego Chargers. Buffalo (5-6) finds itself back in the playoff hunt after wins over Houston and Jacksonville. And quarterback J.P. Losman is beginning to emerge as an NFLstarter. San Diego (8-2) is 4-2 on the road this year and running back LaDainian Tomlinson is averaging three touchdowns per game and 6.2 yards per carry in the past four weeks. For the Bills to have a chance to win, the defense needs to stop the running game. • More than gaudy statistics or a great arm, a good quarterback needs to come through for his team when it matters, in the fourth quarter. He needs to lead his troops to victory with cold stare and a confident swagger. It's these intangibles that have shown through with J.P. Losman in the past two weeks. Perhaps, we're watching the evolution of a franchise quarterback after so many years of waiting. I don't care about odds. The Bills are winning again and I refuse to pick against them until they prove otherwise. Bills win in the upset of the season. - Buffalo 35, San Diego 31. Ken Bartolotta, Lifestyles Reporter (10-2) The Buffalo Bills surprised the Jacksonville Jaguars this past weekend and improved their record to 5-6. That's not bad for a team that was on a three-game losing streak earlier this year. J.P. Losman is looking more and more comfortable on the field each week and is starting to take control of the team, but this week doesn't look to good for Buffalo against the Chargers. - San Diego 28, Buffalo 17. Jill Schmelzer, Lifestyles Coordinator (7-4) The Bills are starting to bring the same last-minute excitement the Sabres have been showing. Wins over the Texans and Jags have the Bills on the rise, but LaDainian Tomlinson is the best player in the NFL. And while the offense will continue to make plays, it is unrealistic for the Bills to do what no other team can do, beat San Diego. The Bills had better pray for a blizzard. - San Diego 34, Buffalo 24. Chris Gordon, Orchard Park Editor (7-4) As LL Cool J once said, "Don't call it a comeback." Not the Bills though, I am talking about myself, as I am no longer in last place and losing is not something I am used to. The Bills, on the other hand, are. They may have played nicely this past week, but LaDainian Tomlinson might be too quick on the corners to stop. - San Diego 28, Buffalo 17. Nick Primerano, Ken-Ton Editor (7-4) Yes, the Bills have been able to pull off two consecutive last-minute victories in recent weeks, and yes, San Diego barely got by Oakland at home this weekend. But the thought of Buffalo continuing its streak against the Chargers is as laughable to me as the fact that some people are starting to seriously talk about Buffalo sneaking into the playoffs as a wild card team. Buffalo will be brought back to reality this Sunday. - San Diego 35, Buffalo 20. Jason Nadolinski, Sports Reporter (6-5) The Bills have a ton of momentum heading into Sunday's home game with San Diego. But as much as I want to pick Buffalo, the defense's inability to stop the run may be the Bills' downfall. San Diego, with LaDainian Tomlinson leading the charge, will be too much for the Bills to overcome. - San Diego 21, Buffalo 18. Patrick Nagy, Sports Reporter (6-5) Things are starting to turn around at 1 Bills Drive, but Buffalo still has a problem stopping the run and LaDainian Tomlinson is the best in the game. Buffalo will make a game of it, but San Diego will charge to a victory. - San Diego 27, Buffalo 23. Matt Krueger, Sports Reporter (5-6) |
