'A Very Special Community Blood Drive' planned

Actively involved with the American Red Cross by holding blood drives throughout the year, Amherst High School will be holding "A Very Special community Blood Drive" that encompasses the area.

The drive will be held in an effort to bring the Amherst community together to support all Amherst families fighting cancer and to raise community awareness of the importance of blood transfusions in cancer treatment - 25 percent of all blood products are used for cancer patients.

The drive is open to the public and will be held from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 at the Amherst High School south gym, 4301 Main St.

The event is sponsored by the Amherst Central High School Red Cross Club and supported by the Amherst Central School District faculty and staff, Amherst Middle School/High School PTSA, Booster Club and Alumni Foundation, Inc.

Call Amy Valenti at 362-8292 ext. 8793 for an appointment. Walk-ins will be serviced according to availability.

Anyone unable to donate or wishes to can make a monetary donation to the Pediatric Center at Roswell which will be used for the purchase of toys. Checks are to be made payable to ACHS Red Cross Club.
