Community News Millennium Masonic Lodge No. 1179 F & AM will host Richard J. Kessler, district deputy grand master of the First Erie Masonic District, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13 at the Amherst Masonic Center, 5808 Main St., Williamsville. The program will include dinner, the Lancaster Swing Choir and Masonic related news reports. A Kenmore, resident, Kessler was appointed in June by the grand master of Masons in New York, Neal I. Bidnick, and oversees the 14 Masonic Lodges Located in Northern Erie County. Mark A. King of Williamsville was recently elected to the American Cancer Society's Eastern Division Board of Directors where he also serves on the Diversity and Disparity Strike-force committee, the Audit and Financial Stewardship Committee and the Volunteer Development Workshop Committee. He has volunteered with the American Cancer Society for more than three years and also leads the Western New York Region of the American Cancer Society Board of Advisors as president. Rep. Thomas M. Reynolds, R-Amherst, is seeking college and graduate students interested in serving as interns in his Washington, D.C., Rochester and Williamsville offices for the spring semester, beginning in January 2007. Intern responsibilities consist of both administrative and legislative duties including constituent relations, research, clerical tasks, opening mail, and answering constituent calls. Deadline for intern applications is Friday, Dec. 8. A limited number of interns will be accepted each semester. Internships are available for school credit if approved by the applicant's college or university. Internship applications from high school students are accepted throughout the year. Jacqueline Wong was the recipient of the 2006-2007 Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Award. A Williamsville East High School senior, Wong was recognized for her leadership qualities, service, dependability and patriotism. She is the daughter of Michael and Suszanne Wong of East Amherst. She is eligible for local and state scholarships based on an essay she wrote for the award. The Williamsville School District will host Katie Koestner who will speak about Internet safety to district parents from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Casey Middle School auditorium, 105 Casey Road. The event is for parents only. |
