Shea's Performing Arts Center presents a musical about being young, learning to survive, falling in love, finding a voice and living for today when "Rent" is on stage Dec. 5-10.
"Rent" follows the trials, tribulations and successes of eight characters in the East Village of New York City. The rock musical by Jonathan Larson premiered in 1996, and in April celebrated its 10th anniversary. In 2005, the play was adapted into a full-length film.
The musical features the songs "Rent," "Seasons of Love," "One Song Glory," "Light My Candle," "Santa Fe," "Christmas Bells" and others.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 8 p.m. Friday, 2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, and 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday at 646 Main St., Buffalo. Tickets range from $22.50 to $52.50 and are available at the box office and Ticketmaster.com (852-5000, www.ticketmaster.com).
