Dessert Deli in Williamsville recently held a pie baking contest and raised more than $1,600 for the United Way of Buffalo & Erie County. The contest was open to Dessert Deli employees and the three finalists were judged by customers who for a $3

donation to the United Way could order a sample tasting of the trio and cast a vote for their favorite.

The winning pie, a chocolate espresso raspberry cheesecake, was created by Amy Usen.

Joseph J. Schoellkopf, Jr. of Amherst has become a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He was one of 75 members inducted during the organization's Annual Meeting held recently in London, England. He was the only inductee from Western New York this year. Schoellkopf is a senior litigation partner at Damon & Morey LLP.

Great Northern Pizza Kitchen owned by Hot Restaurant Group has been named 40th out of America's top 100 independents, by Pizza Today magazine. The "Hot 100 Independents" list ranks the nation's best-performing independent pizzerias.
