Forum scheduled to discuss open space in Amherst

The Amherst Town Board will conduct a public forum on the current status and future plans for open space, green space, park space and farm space from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Amherst Town Hall, 5583 Main St.

The forum will obtain citizen input for future town policy and plans for dealing with open space.

"Too often public commentary on open and green space only comes in opposition to a particular project or development," Council Member Dan Ward said. "We really need to hear what the public thinks of this critical issue and I hope the entire Town Board will attend and listen."

He added, that the Town has less and less green space available and the Town has to start doing a better job to conserve it.

"It is a real quality of life issue," he said. "We want to know what the public is thinking."
