SENIORNEWS The following events will take place at the Amherst Center for Senior Services, 350 John James Audubon Parkway. For more information, call 636-3059. COOKING WITH ANN will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28. Ann will present "Hungry for the Holidays." Cost is $10 per person. Fee includes supplies. A maximum of 15 people for this program. All reservations must be paid in cash, in advance by Wednesday, Nov. 22. after which no refunds will be given. For reservations, call 636-3059. WOMEN'S ISSUES will meet at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 27. in the Waiting Lounge. The presentation will be on "Tips to Reduce Holiday Stress." Session includes a question and answer period. BIRTHDAY PARTY LUNCHEON will be held at noon Tuesday, Nov. 28 to celebrate birthdays for the months of November and December. Entertainment to begin at 12:30 p.m. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30. Dr. Zdenka Gredel Manuele, a professor from Niagara University, will do a program on the History of Bamberg. This presentation will identify the Jewish settlements in Bamberg, Germany and review some of the contributions made by Jewish leaders to the political, cultural, and social life of the town until the advent of National Socialism in 1933. Photographs will be used to illustrate the importance of Jewish life in Bamberg. BOOK LOVERS CLUB will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 30. CLUB SALE will hold sales before the holiday season from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6; and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 7 and 8. HOLIDAY HAPPENING will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6. Knitters, crafters and quilt clubs will be selling items for holiday shopping. RANDY GODDING, artist, will be featured throughout the months of November and December at the center. It can be viewed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS will be available from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and Thursdays. KNITTING CLUB meets at 1 p.m. Tuesdays in the card room. MUSIC COMBO will be held at noon Fridays in the music room. NEEDLEWORK CLUB meets at 9:30 a.m. Mondays in classroom 1. AMHERST RECORDER CONSORT meets from 9 to 11 a.m. Fridays in the music room. 'Be a Santa to a Senior' Home Instead Senior Care is teaming up with area retailers and non-profit agencies to sponsor "Be a Santa to a Senior" from Tuesday, Nov. 28 through Friday, Dec. 15. Prior to the holiday, the participating local non-profit organizations will identify the needy, orphaned and isolated seniors in the community and provide the names to Home Instead Senior Care. Christmas trees will be placed in the lobbies of HSBC Sheridan Plaza Branch Bank and HSBC Northtown Plaza Branch, where ornaments with the senior's names will decorate the Christmas trees. Holiday Shoppers can pick an ornament, buy items on the list and return them unwrapped to the store. The senior care facility will then distribute the gifts to the seniors.
