Soos scores twice in 3-3 tie

Matthew Soos scored two of three unanswered Squirt Ranger goals to lift the Rangers to a 3-3 tie with the Stars.

The Stars started the game fast with two first period goals by Jimmy Kirkpatrick, unassisted, and Steven Zaprowski, assisted by Dan Bounds.

Ranger goalie Nicholas Molnar prevented several others by making many spectacular saves, including one on Craig McCabe at close range.

The second period started much the same as Justin Bystrak scored on a rebound six seconds in to give the Stars a three-goal lead. Assists were earned by AJ Aquilino and Ben Battaglia.

Soos scored the first Ranger goal on a power play to trim the Stars lead to two. Molnar stopped Kirkpatrick on a breakaway and stoned the Stars on five consecutive shots at the end of the second period. Bradley Hejmanowski drew the Rangers within one by beating Stars goalie Neal Greiner on a breakaway.

Soos finished the scoring on another power play near the end of the game on an unassisted goal.

Outstanding defensive plays were made by the Stars' Jonah Held and Christian Aichinger and the Rangers' Jason Raymondi, David Hnat and Michael Battaglia.
