Fate of purchase depends on Village Board Paul Iskalo of Iskalo Development is looking into purchasing the properties at 52 and 56 S. Union Road in Williamsville. His decision depends on the Village Board, which, at Monday's work session, listened to his pleas to rezone the property at 56 S. Union Road from residential to commercial. If he purchases the buildings, he said it is his intent to add 31 parking spaces, make renovations that would be harmonious with the village and use the structure at 52 S. Union Road as a mixed-use office building. "The blend works well on smaller buildings," Iskalo said, noting that the purchase is contingent on adding parking to 56 S. Union Road. His attorney, Sean Hopkins, said timing is critical to obtain the rezoning by the end of the year because the current tenant will be vacating the building at that time. The preliminary site plans Iskalo presented to the board show the structure at approximately 20,000 square feet, including the outside wall area. There are residential homes behind the building, and Iskalo said he would work with the homeowners to create a screening. "I will accommodate and work with the neighbors," Iskalo said. The first step in the process is the rezoning proposal. If the board approves it after a public hearing is held, then Iskalo said he would move ahead with the purchase and begin the site plan process. Members of the Village Board said they would review his proposal and call for a public hearing at the next board meeting, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27 in Village Hall, 5565 Main St., in Williamsville. e-mail: JSchmelzer@beenews.com |
