David Vogel of Williamsville and Deputy Matthew Hansen of Amherst recently graduated from the Basic Correctional Academy. They were part of the largest class of graduates (deputies and corrections officers) ever in Erie County. Both were assigned to the jail management division of the Erie County Sheriff's Office.

St. Benedict School, in Eggertzville, received a $500 grant from the Exxon/Mobil Educational Alliance program to support the school's technology program.

Anita Anain of Williamsville was recently honored with the St. Louise de Marillac Award during the Sisters Hospital Marillac Guild's annual fall luncheon and auction held Nov. 9 at Salvatore's Italian Gardens. She has been an active volunteer and supporter of Sisters Hospital and the Daughters of Charity (original sponsor of Sisters Hospital).

The Getzville Fire Company will hold its second annual door to door food collection from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov 17 and Wednesday, Nov, 22 and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 19. Residents are asked to have non-perishable foods ready for pickup.
