Whether it's exotic flowers, centerpieces for a special event or a gift basket for all occasions, the service is available at one place: The Atrium Florists at 4865 Main St., in Snyder.

Since it was founded in 1963 by Pat W. and Anne Syracuse, Atrium Florists has been maintained as a family run, full-service florist and gift shop.

Pat was a former head designer at Weice Florists and said he helped make the business the leading floral shop in Western New York. With that experience, he opened Atrium Florists and today has 45 years of design experience.

While Pat and Anne still take an active role in the business, their son, Bruce, now serves as director of operations, and Bruce's son, Chris, also works at the shop.

Bruce said that through the years the family has been able to reinvent the business and offer services not readily found in the Buffalo area.

"We have been a full-service flower and gift shop for all those years," he said. "In 2000, we diversified and started offering other services, such as baskets."

The baskets include fruit, pastry, chocolate and other gourmet specialties.

With abundant warehouse space, Atrium Florists is able to bring in more than 150 varieties of flowers from around the world.

"We know how to maintain a lot of different products in stock, including imports," Bruce said, adding that the shop has a tradition of contemporary European and high-style floral designs.

During his years in the business, Bruce said he has noticed many places have the "same old" floral designs, but Atrium Florists has been able to carry many hard-to-find varieties.

In addition to Pat's years of experience, Bruce said the business has a well-seasoned team of floral designers.

From a single rose to a $10,000 wedding, Atrium Florists focuses on serving the customer's needs. The shop has provided flowers for numerous special occasions, including birthdays, anniversaries and holiday celebrations, as well as for funerals.

Before the big wedding day Bruce encourages the bride and her family to sit down with one of Atrium's consultants to talk about her needs for the ceremony and reception.

Representatives of the business will deliver and set up the arrangements. Items such as vases, centerpieces and pillars can also be rented for an event.

"The shop has been around a long time, with a rich history," Bruce said. "We do everything, from A to Z in the industry."

Prices are kept low at Atrium Florists, Bruce said, adding that the quality of service is "not just the average, but the exceptional."

A lot of businesses come and go, but Atrium Florists has maintained its shop at the Main Street location for more than 40 years, and it continues to be on the cutting edge in floral design, Bruce said.
