Micron White wins shootout The Amherst Micron League had a captivating game between Team Red and Team White. The highly entertaining game featured much scoring with a plethora of opportunities from both teams. The Amherst Micron White ended up on top, 12-8, but both teams put up quite a battle for their first game of the year. The scoring began from Team White, with Rehbaum pushing one by Gunar Weppner. Griffin Green countered from Team Red to tie the game at 1-1, with a hard shot past Brown. Cameron Briere then scored to allow Team Red to take the lead. However, Collin Branka from Team White then tied it up at 2-2. As the tenuous battle continued, Goss allowed Team White to take the lead with the next goal scored. Corey Wolfe then tied it up halfway through the first period with his goal in a one-on-one battle with the goalie. However, Team White took the lead with a goal from Patrick Gilbert and never looked back. This followed with goals from Deakin, Conney, and Gilbert (hat trick), all from Team White to make the score 7-3. Team Red tried to mount a come back with a goal from Griffin Green to cut the lead to 7-4, but Gilbert from Team White counted with five seconds in the half to put team White up 8-4. In the second half, Team White continued its scoring with the next four goals. Rapini started the scoring for Team White, followed by Gilbert (goal number 4), J. Gilbert, and Deacon. The score was then 12-4, as team Red tried to make a comeback with Green scoring a goal with three minutes left in the game, followed by a goal from Michael Flocccare. The two goalies were awesome in net, as Brown from Team White faced 14 shots on goal, but Weppner faced 16 shots on goal. Both goalies were instrumental in keeping their team in the game. |
