Culinary creations to benefit March of Dimes

The area's premier chefs will converge on the Statler Tower Ballroom from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13 to raise money and awareness for the nation's number one killer of newborns: premature birth.

The March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction of Western New York is a blending of food, fun, and fund raising where participants assemble their finest offerings in an array designed to satisfy the most demanding palate, all for the benefit of mothers and babies in this community.

According to the chairman, Dr. Maurice Gelia, this year's event promises to showcase some of the best restaurants in town.

Featured dishes will be prepared by Anderson's, Banchetti's by Rizzo, Fiammi, Dessert Deli, Harry's Harbour Place Grille, Ilio DiPaolo, Left Bank, My Tomato Pie, New York State Winery, Park Lane, Protocol, Root 5, The Roycroft Inn, Saffire Grille, Taste and Yancey's Fancy.

"We're anticipating our most exciting evening yet," Gelia said. "If you're partial to the best in food and to supporting good causes, this is the event for you."

Proceeds from Signature Chefs Auction of Greater Buffalo New York will benefit the March of Dimes and its prematurity campaign to help reduce the rate of premature birth.

One in eight babies is born too soon, many without warning and for no known reason. It's the leading cause of newborn death and a major cause of many disabilities.

The March of Dimes is raising funds to support research and programs to help fight premature birth.

Signature Chefs Auction of Greater Buffalo New York is sponsored by SYSCO, Mike Barney Nissan and Buffalo Spree Publishing.

In addition to the meal, there will be live and silent auctions. For more information and tickets to the event, call the March of Dimes at 691-3805.
