Buffalo In-Line Hockey Group
Aces remain only unbeaten team

Going into last weekend, four teams in Western New York were undefeated but by the time Sunday evening rolled around, only one remained.

Two of those teams, the Black Aces and Hornets, faced off in a Saturday morning Buffalo In-Line Hockey Group major division game.

The Aces jumped to a quick 2-0 lead only to see the Hornets tie it at 2-2. The Aces prevailed with Doug Smith (Williamsville) and David Campuzano (Grand Island) teaming up for the game winner.

In the junior division, the 535's extended its undefeated streak on Saturday with a 4-2 triumph over the Hurricanes with Nick Antoniadas (Amherst) netting a couple.

The Canes came back in their second game of the day to beat the Blue Flames, 3-2, when Greg Neuman (Tonawanda) scored his second of the game with only 28 seconds left. The Red Raiders jumped all over Team X with Pat Smith (Amherst) scoring five times.

The league had Sunday games and that's when the 535's saw the same fate as the team downtown. Adam Terragnolli (Clarence) netted his second of the game in a shootout to lift the Blue Flames to a 7-6 win over the 535's. Zac Carslisle had a hat trick for the Flames and Jim Krolikowski (Lancaster) had the first BIHG hat trick of his career.

In other Sunday action, the Storm rode a double hat trick from Justin Banaszak (Cheektowaga) to an 11-7 win over Team X. Rob Russell (Tonawanda) had a hat trick for the winners and Calvin Waley (Cheektowaga) had two goals and two assists in the loss. The Hornets also beat the Red Raiders, 5-3.

BIHG is the premier youth in-line hockey league in Erie County and plays every Saturday morning in two age groups at the EPIC Center on Wehrle Dr. in Amherst. New players are always welcome. For more information, call 773-1188 or 689-4090.
