Community News Country Parkway Elementary School, in the Williamsville School District, recently had five students participate in the 2006 New York State Sport Stacking Championships held Oct. 21 at Attica High School. Emily Kemp, fourth grade, placed first in the special stacker division with a time of 8.40 seconds. The relay team of Lexie Kiffer, third grade; Sarah Scolnick, fourth grade; Elizabeth Kline, fourth grade; and Michelle Cheaib, fourth grade, placed third in the 3-6-3 relay and second in the cycle relay. They also placed individually in other division competitions. Ben Fox-Ando, Jud Heussler and Michelle Notaro, all Amherst residents and members of the Bravo Choir of BelCanto will be performing at the International Jungensanger Festival and Concert, in Ontario, Canada on Nov. 4. They were selected to perform with children from four other North American choruses. Spencer Schmitt, a member of Williamsville Troop 991 has been promoted to Eagle Scout. For his Eagle Project, he designed and built picnic tables for the Williamsville South Booster Club. Schmitt is a graduate of Williamsville South and currently is attending Canisius College. Junior Achievement of WNY, Inc. was recently granted $12,500 from the 11th annual Buffalo Niagara Sales and Marketing Executives Golf Outing. The two have formed a partnership that is based on supporting care and service to seniors of the area. |
